Medical Weight Loss Program Georgetown Bariatrics

Medical Weight Loss Program Now Available

Trying to lose weight can be frustrating! We are here to help our patients reach their health goals. You don’t have to do it on your own! We are proud to offer a medical weight loss program.

WHAT IS MEDICAL WEIGHT LOSS?

Medical weight loss is a plan designed and supervised by healthcare professionals, emphasizing diet, fitness, and a healthy lifestyle.

EVALUATION

Patients will have an initial assessment by the physician assistant including history and physical exam, laboratory work-up, and a body composition evaluation. The body composition evaluation breaks down the body into percentage of fat, protein, minerals, bone, body water and muscle.

SUPPORT

Patients will meet regularly with a registered dietitian to monitor progress, adjust the weight loss plan and celebrate incremental successes along the way.

TREATMENT PLAN

Patients will receive an individualized diet plan, fitness goals, and prescription weight loss medications when medically necessary. Diet plans and medications will be adjusted as needed and appropriate.

HOW DO I KNOW IF I QUALIFY FOR MEDICAL WEIGHT LOSS?

  • Body mass index of 30.
  • Body mass index of 27 with an obesity related health concern, such as diabetes or high blood pressure.

We will bill insurance for medical weight loss services.

Georgetown Bariatrics and Advanced Surgical Services offers comprehensive weight loss options with compassionate care. Medical weight loss services will complement the surgical weight loss services offered by Dr. Eric Smith, robot-assisted sleeve gastrectomy and robot-assisted gastric bypass. Additionally, the gastric balloon, offers a less invasive non-surgical option.
